Commercial transcreation: bringing Google Home to France
The release of Google Home, a hands-free smart speaker powered by Google Assistant, was an important launch for the tech giant; traditionally the luxury of high-flying business execs, the benefit of a personal assistant would now be available to all.
Our task? TVC transcreation, bringing the new tech to life for audiences in France. Advertising translation is a speciality of ours, and we were asked to translate the French script for the Google Home launch commercial. As this was to be the first time Google Home had a ‘voice’ in France, we knew how crucial it was to evoke the right tone, which included reframing any pop or cultural references in a way that would work for our audience. The result was a spot that brought to life the Google voice with a distinctly French flavour.
