Helping Skrill to talk to expats in their language
Skrill, a money transfer service, had a unique challenge: how to advertise to expats in their adopted country without excluding the non-expat community. The creative concept, which played off idioms unique to the target audience’s language and culture, required careful handling to ensure the joke would land with expats and locals alike. Which is where we came in, with cultural consultation services followed by transcreation and copy adaptation help.
Drawing on our highly skilled network of talent, we delivered holistic language and cultural support across the whole campaign, from inception to roll-out: cultural consultation to validate concepts and copy, adaptation that made sure idioms in translation were both recognisable and in-keeping with the creative, sense-checking for market-specific nuance and sensitivity, and being on-hand at all points to answer questions and steer around potential snags.
